Directions to the Morehead-Cain Foundation from Raleigh-Durham
International Airport and points east

- From I-40 West take Exit 273-A (Highway 54 WestChapel Hill).
- Stay on Highway 54 for approximately 3.5 miles as it takes you into
Chapel Hill and the UNC campus. You will go through eight stoplights
on the way into town. At the ninth stoplight, turn right onto Country
Club Road. (There is a stone wall on the corner across the street
on the right with a "University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill"
sign on it.)
- Turn right at the first stoplight onto Raleigh Road.
- Turn left at the first stoplight onto Franklin Street.
- The Morehead Planetarium Building is on the left just past Chapel
of the Cross Episcopal Church.
- Enter the parking lot and obtain a pass from the booth attendant.
Park in a visitor spot (marked yellow). This is a pay lot, so be prepared
to pay $1.25 per hour. If the lot is full, you may park in a metered
space on Franklin Street or in one of the parking decks on Rosemary
Street.
- To enter the Morehead-Cain Foundation, walk around to the left side
of the building and use the East Wing entrance. The Morehead-Cain
Foundation is on the first floor.
Directions to the Morehead-Cain Foundation from Greensboro
and points west
- From Greensboro, take I-85 North/I-40 East.
- Just before Hillsborough, I-40 East and I-85 North split. Take
the I-40 East exit.
- From I-40, take Exit 266 (Highway 86).
- At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Highway 86.
- In Chapel Hill, Highway 86 becomes Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard/Historic
Airport Road and then, as you reach downtown Chapel Hill, Columbia
Street.
- On Highway 86/Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard/Historic Airport
Road/Columbia Street, you will go through ten traffic lights. The
tenth traffic light is at the intersection of Columbia Street and
Franklin Street. At that intersection, turn left onto Franklin Street.
(Landmarks: University Baptist Church across street on right, Spanky's
Restaurant on left)
- After you go through two traffic lights, turn into the first
driveway/parking lot on your right. You will be in the parking
lot in front of the Morehead Planetarium Building.
- Enter the parking lot and obtain a pass from the booth attendant.

Directions to Morehead-Cain Foundation from Richmond, VA and
points north
- Take I-95 South to Petersburg, Virginia.
- At Petersburg, take I-85 South to Durham, North Carolina.
- In Durham, take the Highway 15-501 Bypass South exit toward Chapel
Hill.
- Continue to follow signs for 15-501 South.
- Cross I-40. Pass Performance car dealerships on left. Stay in
the right lane. Just after the Erwin Road intersection, take the
Franklin Street exit. Signs for Morehead Planetarium and Downtown
Chapel Hill point you toward Franklin Street. Be careful, the
signs for this exit are only a few feet in front of where you
need to turn.
- After you go through the fifth traffic light on Franklin Street
(intersection of Franklin and Raleigh Streets), the Morehead Planetarium
Building will be on the left just past Chapel of the Cross Episcopal
Church.
- Enter the parking lot and obtain a pass from the booth attendant.
