Out-of-state
There are three ways for out-of-state students to be considered for the Morehead-Cain Scholars Program:- Attend an official out-of-state nominating school and receive the school nomination
- Apply to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by the November 3 deadline
- Be nominated by one of the Morehead-Cain Affiliate Programs (HOBY, School Year Abroad, and the Mountain School)
Out-of-state nominating schools
Secondary schools outside North Carolina are eligible to nominate one student from the senior class each year by invitation only from the Morehead-Cain Foundation. The school selection process for the 2008–2009 selection year has been closed. To view the list of eligible out-of-state schools, click these links for a list by school or by state.
If you are interested in your high school becoming an official out-of-state nominating school beginning with the 2009–2010 selection year, please revisit this site in mid-January.
UNC Applicant
Out-of-state students who apply to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by the November 3 deadline will be considered for the Morehead-Cain through the undergraduate admissions referral program. Students selected by the Admissions Office will be personally invited to apply to the Program by the Morehead-Cain Foundation on January 2, 2009.If you are a student who recieved an e-mail and/or letter invitation from the Foundation to apply to the Morehead-Cain Scholars Program, please click here to complete the online application. The deadline to submit the application is Friday, January 16, 2009.
